The paper can be seperated into three parts.The first studies generally the relative concepts of ruins museums and its recent development , then analyzes the influences on the ruins museums of the development of cultural heritage conservation in the worldwide , the heritage tourism industry , and Museology , especially the New Museology since latest 1980's, coming to the conclusion that the ruins museums are the most fundamental method to preserve the cultural ruins and are entering people's daily life and recreation gradually. The second part, in the view of architecture and based on the comparison between cases abroad and home , mainly studies the layout of the ruins museums of "outside the preservation area" mode, as well as the function and the exhibition space, especially focus on the visual image of the building both exterior and interior, considering the way of "hiding shape makes great view" would properly express the harmony of the building and its environment .Finally, via the analysis of the two cases, the paper tries to find out the appropriate way to explain and reveal the historic value and aesthetic value of the ruins in its own environment by the design of modern exhibiting space.
