Along with the raising of parameter and the increase of unit capacity, it is more and more complex to start and run. The safety of unit also becomes more and more important. In addition, thermal process automation is a important way to improve the working condition and lighten the working intension of operator.This paper introduce the development of thermal control equipments and the DCS of Huaneng Luohuang Power Plant. The author analyze the feasibility of DCS improvement of #2 Unit. In addtion, based on spot experience, this paper also disscuss the improvement of control system and handling for fault. In the end, as to the hotspot issue of DCS control system, the author bring forward his own point of view and its application.The four generation set of Huaneng Luohuang Power Plant were made by ALSTOM company of French. The DCS control system , including harmony control system and DEH control system are designed by French GEC-ALSTOM DEM company. Because this control system is popular in China , therefore it is necessary to discuss the improvement of the control system and popularize for its good qualities.
