A Study Of Developing Electronic Chart Display And Information System Under Linux Based On Qt Package

Navigation system is the basic system on naval vessel that ensure them sailing safely. The modern naval vessel generally adopts integrated navigation as the navigation system. Along with the development of marine development and navigation cause, we expect more and more with it. We want it not only to receive and deal with navigating and localization information, weather information, hydrology information, the data information from real-time equipment, such as the radar and sonar goal information, but also to offer and deal with more complicated navigation information, for instance depth of water, marks that help navigation, ocean current, ocean tide and all kinds of navigation information.ECDIS is the display background of integrated navigation system, it is also the interface of man-machine interaction in the system. It combines navigation geographical information and relevant geographical key element information and reacts them on the electronic sea chart accurately. We can say that it is the whole foundation and even core of the integrated navigation system during use. The application of ECDIS has changed the work mode of navigation that already existed and greatly lightened navigating officer's burden and labour intensity. Supported by the naval vessel automated system, it will help to realize the complete navigation automatization.As one main kind of operating system at present, the free software Linux's performance is remarkable. There are extensives hardware supporting from manufacturers and complete software developing instrument. Besides, it has no worry in security respect, which is a serious defect of Windows system, and price is lower than some real-time operating system, such as VxWorks, while much easier software developing and maintaining in it. Basing on the foregoing advantages, my paper put forward an implementation approach of ECDIS in Linux.The thesis also carries out the realization method of ocean environmental information system in details, which is a subsystem of ECDIS. The ocean is the environment that navigation relying on and to know these characteristic data of itis essential. In fact, the inquiry function of the ocean environmental information has already become an essential part in ECDIS.The last part of the thesis discussed the realization of the searching function of the navigation data, which includes the sea route guide, the sailing route recommended, coastal hydrology information, etc. The content of this part is very important too.From the view point of using, the paper has set up a prototype of the ECDIS in Linux and established a solid technological foundation for pushing it to project practice.
