Proportion and scale of architecture is a basic problem in architecture design. There is a lot of research in this field.As an plastic art architecture must be creative. The former masters is too great for us to overstep, so it seemed that the only way we can take is revolting, and the novel appearance of architecture is very popular in this commercial society. The important problem of architecture like proportion and scale suffered to query. Current there is an unprecedented active air in architectural theories field. Numbers of latest theories and concept of design overseas has been introduced in. The mood of impatient for success makes us neglected basic architectural problems. Many buildings with vogue appearance made mistakes in lowest class.This dissertation is divided into two sections, the first section is about proportion and the second one is about scale. Section one includes three chapters. Chapter one discussed the knowledge that had been founded about proportion of architecture in the order according to time. The second chapter is about the famous modernism architect Le corbusier and his theory of regulating line and modulor. The proportion of ancient Chinese architecture is discussed in chapter three.The second section is divided to five chapters, this section is about scale of architecture: the main resource of scale, humanized system of hierarchical scale, different kind of scale, concrete expression skill of scale and it's basis. Finally discussed the special viewpoint and theories of ancient China at scale of architecture.Epilogue of this dissertation restated the essentiality of proportion and scale of architecture. Excellent architecture should have good proportion and appropriate scale.The whole dissertation contains about 45 thousand words and 126 illustrations.
