The economic operation of hydropower plant is a method to use the water resource sufficiently and decrease the energy loss.The paper emphasizes on the study of algorithm of hydropower plant economic operation and its implementation in configurable software, which is based on the engineering project —the economic operation of Chang'an Hydropower Plant monitoring system in Guangdong Province. Dynamic programming is used in this paper to analysis economic distribution of the generator sets' load and study the generator sets optimized combination in hydropower plant. The seamless connection between algorithm of economic operation and monitoring system is implemented with DELPHI in configurable software environment with the method of dynamic data exchange in Windows. The mode of data exchange between program and supervisin system of hydropower plant economic operation is also discussed in detail.This paper is organized as follows. In section 1, it introduce the development of hydropower plants' monitoring system and economic operation. As the maturity of configurable software, the mode of configuration monitoring is widely adopted in plants' monitoring system. Subsequently, the paper studies and compares all the algorithms of economic operation, and dynamic programming is adopted to realize plant economic operation, which is based on optimizing running of Chang'an Hydropower Plant's generator sets. Finally, according to the plant's configuration monitoring system, economic operation algorithm is implemented with Dephi. The basic data of algorithm and optimized result are transmitted to configuration monitoring system by the communication mode of DDE, which not only patch the disadvantage that the ability of configurable software's calculation is limited, but also connected with monitoring system seamlessly that share information maximally and save the plant's investments.
