Economic operation of large hydropower plant is a kind of complex nonlinear multi-stage optimization decision problem, which is of great significance to improve power quality, optimize power resource and improve economic returns. Study of economic operation of large hydropower plant is dispatching power equipment of power station reasonably to obtain the greatest economic benefits on the premise of safe, reliable, high quality power network. With the growing installed capacity of power stations, it becomes more difficult to solve the decision problem of economical operation of power station, new decision theories and methods to solve the model must be explored. The paper combines the development of economic operation of Three Gorges hydropower station decision support software system, studies the optimization algorithms of economic operation of large-scale hydropower station, which provide new effective ways to solve the problem of economic operation of large-scale hydropower station.The paper establishes mathematical model of economic operation of large-scale hydropower station, proposes an economic operation optimization algorithm based on priority list coupled with successive approximation dynamic programming according to the operation situation of Three Gorges hydropower station. The basic thought is to determine the order of unit commitment according to minimum water consumption per unit, abandon the unit commitment which doesn't meet the priority list at the stage of determining the start-stop plan of units by using successive approximation dynamic programming algorithm accordding to the optimum operating table, take the place of blindly iteration with directed successive approximation, which effectively reduces the dimension and improves the searching speed. This algorithm reduces the searching time, and improves the searching speed compared to the equal incremental cost algorithm and dynamic programming algorithm, the algorithm can directly guide the actual operation of power plants, with strong practicability, compared to the intelligent optimization algorithms.On the basis of theoretical study of algorithm and with the study of Three Gorges hydropower station, this paper expoundes the design principles and key technologies of economic operation of large hydropower plant decision support system, explans comprehensively the realization processes. On the premise of considering the unit maintenance and given load curve, the system distributes the unit load of power station, determines the start-stop plan of units, unit commitment and load distribution between units of the station by using the algorithm based on priority list coupled with successive approximation dynamic programming, to minimize the wear and tear, maximum economic benefits, and meet the requirement of economical operation. The paper analyzes the functional component of system from the practicality and universality, analyzes the function of space optimization and time optimization in detail; and then designes software architecture of the system, including data layer, business layer and presentation layer from the inside out; at the stage of system detailed design, describes the design of logical structure, physical structure the relationship between data structures and procedures, beginning with the design of data base; then describes the detailed design of function module and presentation layer; finally summarizes the design and implementation of economic operation of large hydropower station decision support system, and prospects the the design economic operation of large-scale cascade hydropower plant application systems including economic operation of plant and economic operation between plants.
