Study On Barrier-Free Facility In Bathroom For The Elderly

Barrier-free design in living environment for the elderly is basically blank in China. According to the figure of national bureau of statistic, people above 60 years old have exceeded 10 percent of the total population. On the basis of standard of United Nations, our country has become the aged country, and so the problems of the elderly are becoming more and more urgent. Study on barrier-free facilities in bathroom for the elderly is one of the important tasks.This paper has combined the physiological and psychological characteristic of old people. Through making investigations and collecting the materials, the problems existing in the bathroom of old people in our country at present have been analyzed, Human Factors Engineering and the theory of indoor environment design have been combined, and the barrier-free study for the elderly bathroom has been carried out in this paper.The author has introduced rudimentary knowledge that related to human body measurement in chapter two of this thesis, and measured human size of some adults. The human size data of the obtaining value can offer the reference data for setting up adult's model.In chapter three, the author has used the human engineering research approach and specially designed a sample bathroom for this research. Through some adult human motions test experiment, some facilities yardstick and install yardstick can be got in bathroom finally.In chapter four, the author has cited a conclusion that senility of the elderly could cause some changes on body dimensions, and used main statistics function knowledge in human measurement, and revised adult's human physical dimension in chapter two, finally got some human dimension of approximate for old people.In chapter five, combining research approach of human engineering and results of human motions test experiment in chapter three, the author has given some suggestions for the size of barrier-free facilities in bathroom for old people.According to the size of barrier-free facilities in bathroom for old people in chapter five, the author has designed a virtual bathroom for the elderly by 3DS MAX software in computer.Therefore, the purpose of this paper is to create healthier, more comfortable environment for old people and make the old people fully enjoy their life.
