Research On Barrier---Free Design Of Bathroom In The Domicile For Aged

By the year of2010, the above60years old---senior citizens have already reached178million, which amounted to13percent of the total population in China. Aging of population has become an irreversible in21century. It’s an advancement of economic development and social progress. The elder people’s life has garnered more attention by the fast speed of aging. At present, the elder people’s living environment is fear of the deep. The first thing for the expert to do is how to make their living space convenience and comfort. Interior environments and establishments play an important role in elder people’s living quality, because in their daily life, about80percent time is in interior. The bathing room is often used by the elder people, which is easy causing an accident. By survey, the most majority bathrooms, which are used by the elder people, are designed according to adult’s standards that have wholesome behavior. So it is not easy to satisfy the special physiological and psychological demands to the elder people.Aiming at elder people’s bathroom environment, the author developed comprehensive analysis and social practice. The significance is to create a safe and comfortable living environment. Meanwhile, promote accessibility designs for elder people to be an independent topic, and the related spread and application available. The goal of my paper is drawing important public attentions on senior citizens---the disadvantaged community meanwhile, it also plays a suiting role in accessibility equipment during the research of senior bathroom.This paper is based on the combined ways of field survey and theoretical foundation. The main line of study is elder people’s character, the analysis of bathroom space and the method of barrier-free design. Through the field survey of elder people bathroom, the existing major issues have been found. Combined the systematic research results of human engineering which is centered on bathroom’s the major, infrastructure, supporting equipment and related space environment, the suitable theoretical system bathroom exclusive for old people has been summarized.This paper, based on the principles and psychological features of senior citizens, the principles and foundations for aged bathroom design have been concluded. Combined the basic knowledge of human engineer and universal design are systematic researches on bath toilet equipment. The old people suitable size has been invented, and railing has been applied exclusively available for aged, the height of the railing is also summarized. It also has systematic research on the bathroom door and alarming equipment, therefore the height of the door, related data’s as well as statistics including, the color of alarming equipment, its outlook and applied heights. This paper is also focus on designs of bathroom indoor physical environment, from floor, me tope, lighting, heating, ventilation and green coverage. Keeping in line with physiological and psychological features of senior citizens, the suitable bathroom for aged has been concluded.
