The blade inspection instrument is designed in this paper. In order to reduce workers' burden, identify blade damage and improve the capability in aeroengine maintenance. A new kind of retarder with planet gear connected in series is designed due to the large torque and low speed requirements. Simulation and experiment show that the retarder has satisfactory performance. The single-chip microprocessor is used for speed control. PID algorithm is applied and PID parameters can be ajusted. It is convenient for implementation with good swiftness, stability and precision. Primary study has been taken for blade damage inspection. the blade damage information can be collected with processing card and the blade inspection instrument. Crack, gap and lose angle are analyzed by inspection, image-division and shape-identification. The engine blade inspection instrument has been used in aeroengine maintenance. Mis-checking, repeated checking and fault location can be avoided. The implementation of this instrument shows that the performance of the instrument is satisfactory.
