Guizhou province, located in the southwest border of china, is on the Yunnan-Guizhou plateau. Its specific natural and geographical conditions. Of rising and falling mountains, rivers running in length and breadth, and warm and moist climate breed the natural, simple and unsophisticated, pure and fresh social mood, and also create the humane culture with unique features. Among them, the traditional buildings which is represented by Qingyan Ancient. Town, as an exotic flower in blossom, is praised by experts and scholars as a "peak of poetic perfection of rocks". These national buildings with strongly regional features remain many material patterns of traditionally local-style dwelling houses. They make us sense the special cutural patterns of our ancestor's remolding,utilizing and adapting the nature through their creation for generations on this piece of land and thus have ineffaceable social;historic and cultural value.The tide of globalization with the great development of the modern economy has been hourly pounding at this ancient and magical land.As citilization is the fixed strategy of our national development and an inevitable trend,traditionally ancient towns are faced with the invading destroy from the high-speeding development of citilization. Their spirit and maternal cultural features are varing .But as the carrier of contemporary people's subsistence,ancient towns can not exist seperating from the development of times .It has became an inavoidable question for study how to protect the of citilization in order to make them have their deserved dignity without embarrassment and how to coordinate the relationship between protection and utilization of traditional and ancient townsThe knowledge of the prtection for the historic and .cultural heritage.in foreign countries has been going though long historically practising course,and our country with many historic architectural heritages also has turtous experience in the protection of them from the aspects of understanding,legislation and practicing ,This theses ,taking Qingyan Ancient Town in Guizhou province as an example ,combinig with the experience and lessons in and abroad ,tries to inquire into some methods and means of how to protect and utilize ancient towns in the development of citilizationThe value of Qingyan Ancient town is many-sided Besides the profound humanities, military affairs and religious culture ,architectutal -space culture is mostimportant. After briefly introducing the . Qingyan's present conditions of its natural geography, this thesis expounds militarily and geomantically its selection of location and also introduces its various kinds of architectural styles and the multicultural values it gestates.At the end of the thesis, combining with the relevant experience in and abroad, it concludes the tactics of Qingyan's development and utilization and propose some suggestions of how to implement the protective programs for the future of the ancient town.Some designing institutes have been asked for making the relevant protective program for Qingyan Ancient Town.
