| The historic ancient towns are one of the most precious pieces of culturalheritage in our country. However, as some of these non-renewable treasure aredamaged beyond repair, the conscientious scholars majoring in this field are obligedto conduct researches on the protection of them. This thesis is developed from twoaspects, the first of which is based on the dimensional strategy to protect and developthese towns. The systematical study and the statement of the theory specificallyexplained the concept of "dimension" and "the boundary of historic towns". Theresearch on the dimensional strategy of protecting the historic towns involves theanalysis of the fundamental perception and the tendency, the research on the relatedtheories and thoughts, the analysis on the undertaking principles, the discussion of theputting the dimensional strategy into practice as well as the comments on the finishedpractice. On the other hand, the second aspect of the thesis is the investigation, theclassification and the brief introduction of the historic towns in the west part of HebeiProvince. Moreover, this part of the thesis also focused on the analysis of theadaptation of the historical regularity to the modern paradigm in order to get hold ofthe pattern and the principle of the nature of these towns. In fact, this analysis offers aperceptive guidance of the action. Thereafter, the thesis led its way to the comparativeresearch of three kinds of historic towns, with a series of experimental action added asillustration. The purpose of this thesis is to provide some practical suggestions andstrategies with the project of protecting and developing the historic towns, as well assome advisable models and methods that benefit the environment and the shiftingparadigm of these towns. The overall purpose of this thesis is to come up with someinspiration, strategies, methodologies as well as measures in the process of theprotection and the development of the historic towns, which, hopefully, would beadopted by the designers and constructionist as well as the administrators who woulddeal with this issue dimensionally... |
