The development of the information and network technologies impacts the progress of manufacturing greatly. A new kind of manufacturing model, namely Networked Manufacturing, has been brought forward in recent years. However, the information security problem in the Networked Manufacturing environment has become hot point. GAP is a brand new technology in information security field, which is applied in the Networked Manufacturing environment to ensure its information security. Also a global and liable GAP solution is designed in the paper.Firstly, the information security structure in Networked Manufacturing environment is proposed based on analyzing the latent information security problem and studying the characteristic of the Networked Manufacturing and the requirement of information security in the Networked Manufacturing environment. On the basis of application of traditional information security technology, GAP solution is designed and realized in order to make a clean sweep of the latent information security problem in the Networked Manufacturing environment in the paper.Secondly, relative theories of the GAP technology, mainly its historical and technical background, some conceptions, and its application are analyzed and studied, and some misunderstandings of GAP are clarified. Afterwards, the technology principle, the classification, and the development trend are expatiated.Finally, the introduction of SecInfo, a GAP system that is successfully developed by our team is provided, mainly including the analysis of the system requirement, the main function and the system structure. The designing and realizing principle of the hardware and software of the system, including the circuit, the main function modules and the driver of the GAP cards is analyzed in detail. GapCardV2.0 is one of the two GAP cards that have been developed successfully by our team. Because Designing of GapCardV2.0 has original creation, we have applied for a patent for it (Patent No.200410012767.2). A perfect GAP solution for Networked Manufacturing enterprises and others that need to ensure information security is provided in the paper. The realized method of some key technologies involved in the designing and realizing of the system has key values for relative research.
