Meditation Of Urban Planning And Design From Sex Differences

In comparing China and Western Women's movements, this thesis probes into the social background in which the concept of gender was formed. In successions, it proceeds with the differences of the daily behaviors between men and women in detail. After analyzing women's characteristics, it deduces that women have different responsibilities and demands among urban life.It is important to bring the gender's perspectives into urban planning and design. So this thesis focuses on how to protect the interests of women and reflect their demands in urban policies and how to promote improvement in urban environment by designs. In addition, it tries to study planning methodology, participatory decision-making,tasks and roles of planners, reflective practice and research. The ultimate aim of the study is to provide some new ideas, new methods for the development of Urban Planning. The author hopes that the thesis could bring revelation in allusion to the research of urban design,theory and decision-making.
