The eco-environment for human beings has been damaged seriously with the development of economy, science and technology in modern society. People are sick of concrete forest and longing for the true nature with green mountains, water and blue sky with white clouds. With the theory of returning to nature, people have come back to Chinese traditional culture: human follows the earth, earth follows sky, sky follows Dao and Dao follows nature.Shaoshan is Mao Zedong's hometown with so beautiful mountains and water. This paper analyzes the human habit in the Mt. Shao from the angles of nature, culture and Fengshui. It puts forward that a livable human habitat means not only graceful natural environment, its local culture but also harmonious development of sky, earth and human. This also demonstrates how to protect and respect local culture This idea and methodology have realistic meanings in both studying current human habitat and promotion of tourism of the Shaoshan area.
