Water hydraulics is a new research area using filtered natural water or sea water as working medium and lubricant medium in hydraulic systems instead of mineral oil with advantages of energy saving, fire resistance, no pollution, stiff, fast response, less heat, and low costs. It is a very important research area in modern fluid power field with vast prospective application. Water hydraulic axial piston pump are the basic constructional parts of water hydraulic systems. The main target of this dissertation is to design and manufacture water hydraulic axial piston pump and to simulate the port plate of the pump. Therefore the main contents and results of this dissertation are as follows:The benefits of water hydraulics are introduced and the newest domestic and overseas general researching and applying situation of water hydraulic pump are discussed.A water hydraulic axial piston pump whose displacement is 63ml/rev had been designed. The key parts of the pump such as pistons, port plate, cylinder, axial, etc. had been designed by theory and simulation. In the design of pistons, the leakage from clearance between piston and cylinder had been calculated by MATLAB and then the clearance was chosen as 6~10μm. The force and stress of pistons had also been calculated by MATLAB.The pistons and shoes of water hydraulic axial piston pump whose displacement is 31ml/rev had been improved. This dissertation designed a new kind of shoe that was surrounded by modified PEEK composites. Three parts assembled the other new kind of shoe. This dissertation thought over the material and the clearance of the pump and solved the questions in the manufacture of the pump. After the experiment of gluing stainless steel and modified PEEK composites, we knew the cylinder couldn't be manufactured by gluing.This dissertation contains a finite element analysis for the port plate of the water hydraulic axial piston pump whose displacement is 31 ml/rev. the numerical simulation was performed using Ansys program for both stainless steel and modified PEEK composites. The research results are as follows:a) The most part in pump is at the ribbed slab of the high-pressure kidney slot. The width of kidney slot should be broad as possible.b) The loads decide the stress of port plate. When the shape of port plate is fixed, the working pressure decides the maximum stress.c) The port plate should be manufactured by stainless steel and not by modified PEEK composites. Conclusion and prospect of the whole project and this dissertation is pointed out. This dissertationbelieves water hydraulics will have a prospective future with the development of new material, new technology and new process.
