Since 40 years of the municipality building, road industry develops greatly and the crowded things are eased in Xinjiang, particularly within 20 years of reforming and opening. However, with regional economy developing, traffic problem becomes more and more serious mainly because the road layout is not reasonable which doesn't satisfy the increasing demands of transportation. Consequently, it is a key factor to build good road system as soon as possible in the fields of fundamental establishments. Meanwhile, the planning of road system should synchronize with the development of regional economy, which must be carried out step by step, i.e. from spot to line, and then from line to surface.The paper analyses the problems of social economy and transportation development, moreover evaluates the existing things of road system, finally leads to the future scale and the general goal of road development. Considering the effect of national economy and social development scientifically and practically, the paper applies the methods of depot importance evaluation and transportation layout to optimize the planning of road system in Xinjiang. Based on the actual things and external factors, the paper provides some advice of policy making and measure performing more than the solution of planning carrying out and financingIt can accelerate building fundamental establishment of road system to make reasonable planning of road system under the direction of long-term and medium-term plan, which contributes greatly to road communication and integrate transportation system in Xinjiang as well as entire and harmonious economic development of Xinjiang and even the whole country.
