The fast development of Natural gas industry is now one of the most important characteristics in the world energy realm . Valid exploitation in natural gas have the very important strategy meaning to realize coordination development on economy, society and environmental. "Natural gas transmission from west to east" engineering is a important pace to develop in western region of china, to develop western region economic, to make the structural in energy in our country more reasonable. Along with "Natural gas transmission from west to east" engineering putting into practice, the requirement of the carrying equipment for the natural gas ,like the portable tank, will be increasing increasingly. The IMO type 7 portable tank, which is defined by International Maritime Dangerous Goods Code(IMDG) 31 Edition (a thermally insulated portable tank fitted with items of service and structural equipment necessary for transport of refrigerated liquefied gases) is compliance with the transportation demands of the refrigerated gases like natural gas. In addition to the basic demands, the portable tanks intended for the transportation of refrigerated gases of class 2 by all modes of transport, should be designed at least to withstand the internal pressure due to the contents and the static, dynamic and thermal loads during normal conditions of handling and transport without loss of contents. The design should demonstrate that the effects of fatigue, caused by repeating application of these loads through the expected lift of the portable tank, have been taken into account. In addition to above-mentioned demands, the applicable provisions of the International Convention for Safe Containers (CSC)1972, as amended, should be fulfilled by any portable tank which meets the definition of a "container" within the terms of that Convention. This article analyzes the static, dynamic and thermal loads that IMO type 7 portable tank (a thermally insulated portable tank fitted with items of service and structural equipment necessary for transport of refrigerated liquefied gases) must suffer during normal conditions of handling and transport by the ANSYS software. This article also analyzes all kinds of conditions which are stipulated in the International Convention for Safe Containers (CSC) 1972 . The analysis results supplies the theory foundation for the design of IM07 portable tank.
