With the development of economy, the harmonic problem of electricity system is becoming more and more serious, So there is need to monitor the parameters of electricity system and improve the quality of it. At the same time, as the development of electronic and information technology, the PLD(programmable logic devices) has been used extensively and the SOPC (System on a Programmable Chip)are becoming popular. To monitor the harmonic, this paper gives a new project to realize the harmonic analyzer, which uses the soft core CPU-Nios to design the devive.Nios processor is soft core based on the RISC technology, provided users as an IP core. With the help of tools provided by Altera Corp, such as SOPC Builder, etc. The users can design a SOPC having the appropriate CPU and peripherals.The paper introduces the realization of harmonic analyzer, including the theory, the circuit and software of the harmonic analyzer. It uses LCD to display, keyboard to set parameters, and UART to transfer data. The instrument can measure three phase voltage, current and their harmonics, active power, reactive power, power factor, frequency, etc. It also have characteristics of small size, flexibility and use convenient and power-off protection. The device has meet the need of basic demand.
