The automobile-driving simulator is an important tool used for thedevelopment of automobile product and the study of the transportationcharacteristic of "man-car-environment"or the driver train. In recent years , thestudy of the automobile-driving simulator used for development has become animportance development direction in the world because of the notablecharacteristics of high safety ,well reappearance of scene low cost and can bedeveloped easily.The perfect man-machine interaction,the participant's actual experience canbe bring as if he himself be placed in the true environment are the requests of Theautomobile-driving simulator, in other words , The automobile-driving simulatorshould be satisfy the three-dimension virtual environment's traits of immersion,interaction and imagination .Then the design and the realization of the scenesimulation subsystem and the cab operation simulation subsystem as well as itscontrol system seems very important in course of the development of Theautomobile-driving simulator.For the existing automobile-driving simulator, there is a great improvement inthe aspect of the scene simulation system that can basically satisfy the request ofthe simulator, but can't still satisfy the ability of the scene simulation system's fastreaction. Therefore, in the paper, we adopt not only advanced scenesoftware-Opengvs SDK , OpenGL and Multigen Creators to carry on the scenedevelopment, but also adopt 6-DOF parallel connection mechanism as well asits control equipments to be the cockpit and its control system that made thedesigned automobile-driving simulator is a kind of vehicle simulate device thatmake the participant has the actual experience and also can simulate the actualsteering state of automobile and the road environment.The automobile-driving simulator is composed of cab operation simulationsubsystem, scene simulation subsystem, computer control subsystem and sequencersimulation subsystem. The system carries out its function following the process(showed as figure 1): Pilot makes a judgment (such as turning, acceleration,deceleration, stop etc) according to the change of the scene showed by the scenesimulation subsystem to manipulate redirector, clutch or detent laid in the caboperation simulation subsystem. The scene simulation subsystem read thesemanipulation instructions, then the pose and position of the automobile showed inthe scene simulation are changed accordingly, the pose signal data also istransmitted through net to the compute-controlling system by real time. Afterreceiving the signal data, the computer computes the data according to certainarithmetic and sends the data through D/A card that make the data to analog signalto the cab operation simulation subsystem to control the pose of the cab.According to the request and functions of the system, the paper completed thefollowing research work:1, Building up the models of the scene simulation system using the softwareof MultiGen Creator in which process we apply some arithmetic and technologyabout real-time interaction and actual immersion feeling such as MIP, BSP, LODSetc being popular in the field of the visualization simulation.2, Developed the scene simulation system of the automobile-driving simulatorusing advanced scene management software OpenGVS SDK, dealing well with theproblems such as terrain following, collision detection appear in the scene...
