The Vehicle Driving Simulator is an advanced simulation system related with many science and technology fields such as Sensor, 3D Real-time Animation, Computer Interface, Artificial Intelligence, Data Traffic, Network, Multimedia, and so on. Depending on Driving Simulator, the drivers can get effective training with advanced simulation technology, which is very important because the pressure of driving training system in our country can be relieved. And at the same time, it can also help to avoid environment pollution, decrease energy consuming, and lessen training cost.When Virtual Reality technology is applied in a Driving Simulation System to simulate scene, acoustics and movement, operators will immerse in the virtual driving environment, as if driving a real car. According to the virtual vision, hearing and touch feeling obtained from the driving environment, operators can conceive driving actions, experience and study how to drive in the real world. Obviously, it has a lot of advantages to adopt Virtual Reality technology in a Driving Simulation System, such as low-costs, safety, no limitations for time, climate and field. So it is very effective and the training period is also very short.The dissertation studies the VR Modeling techniques of virtual scene according to the development of Visual Driving Simulation System. Firstly, the modeling tools is determined by system requirement, VC++ and OpenGVS are adopted to construct simulation platform, and then the system development project is put forward on the basis of them. After that a lot of scene modeling rules is brought forward according to real-time simulation system requirements. Next introduce the scene modeling process, and many issues about scene modeling are also discussed. In the modeling process, a lot of advanced modeling techniques, such as LOD, Texture Mapping, Instance, External References, are used to lessen cost of system resources, improve system performance, and get perfect vision results. In the developing process of a visual driving simulation system, a rational dynamics model is founded for the system according to automobile theory, and then analyzes the automobile motion based on itby numerical methods. At last, adopts OpenGVS as the management tool, discusses some key techniques of simulation programming such as scene model import, camera following, collision detection, etc.The VR modeling techniques discussed had been used successfully in system development, which fulfilled the "Immersion", "Real time" and "Interactivity" requirements of system, and got effective simulation results.
