With the strong development and expansion of the Chinese economy, the bilateral trades between China and the world have been strengthening. There is one thing that we must take into account is that the international transportation of goods. According to the related statistics, the sea transportation takes 95% of the goods of the international trades, while the container cargo transportation takes more than 70% of the sea transportation and this momentum is increasing. With the increase of the throughput of the container, the requirements for the containers' load and unload both in techniques and equipments have been enhanced, the container cranes of the port is becoming more and more high-speed, lager and more automatic, the result is that the cost of these equipments are increasing, the training for those people who operate the load and unload equipments are becoming more and more important. The proficience of operating those equipments is vital important to the port safety of the production, the efficience of the using of those equipments, the longevity of the equipments and the port economic benefits.In order to effectively settle this training problem for the operation of the port equipments, form the year of 2000, in combination with the ShangHai educational committee's professional loading projects, our school began to research and develop the On-shore container crane simulator, and became the first domestic simulator in the scope of port mechanics. Duing to the limitation of the software that time, this simulator's graphical driving system was developed from the bottom of the software OpenGVS, through this way, we have encountered my problems, such as the phenomena of the low speed and discotiguous of graphics when running the program in computes. With the nonstop of the development of technology and the unceasing update of hardware, for the reason of better visual effect and higher quality of operating, this thesis will use MultiGen Creator 3-D software for the modals building and Vega for the graphics driving to develop the new-style on-shore container crane simulator.The following are the major topics that hve been researched and done:(1) The introduction of the significance of research and development of the on-shore container crane simulator, the work that has been done in this field both domestically and internationally, the major problems and the realistic value of developing this simulator.(2) The introduction of the structure of this simulation system, such as: the basic functions and requirements for this simulator, the structure of this simulation system, the instructor controlling child system, the evaluation of marks child system, the simulation child system, and the principle picture of work system.(3) The introduction of the basic knowledge about the 3-D software MultiGen Creator, the emphasis has been put on the process of 3-D model construction of the crane, and the texture technology and the nodes operation.(4) The introduction of some problems related to the software Vega for graphics driving, much attention has been put on the process of using LynX to build ADF, and the structure of the Vega program.(5) The introduction of the realization of the simulation programs with C++, and the problems that encountered and the ways to settle them.In domestic, it is rare of Using Vega for the graphics driving, much of the graphics driving programs are based on Open GL or Open GVS, and even it is so, the source code of these programs is not open, so it is hardly to find some reference of this kind, as a result, it increase the hardship for developing the simulator. Duing to my limitation of competency, and the restriction of all of the facts, there are bound to be many shortages and even mistakes, so it still needs perfection.
