Regarded as the traditional 2-D coordinate measuring system, omnipotence tool microscope has the most extensive application in the geometry measurement. In the practical manner, however, it has many disadvantages such as complicated reading process, long measuring cycle, high subjective error, low level of automation and so on, which make it fail to meet the measurement requirements. Therefore, the dissertation proposes an improvement method to make up the above disadvantages of omnipotence tool microscope.On the basis of summarizing the current study of size measurement and relative technologies both in domestic and abroad, this dissertation develops an omnipotent tool microscope measuring system based on image. The system mainly consists of the image sensor system, image collection system, image processing system. The dissertation introduces the structure and the measuring principle of the system, and builds mathematics model for the improved system, and then limits the parameters of the system after analyzing the systematic error. Finally, the image processing technology is dealt with detailedly, several treatment methods of which are discussed. The sub-pixel technology is described in particular. On the basis of study, the dissertation chooses the median filtering, Roberts and spatial moment method to fulfill the image filtering, edge detection and sub-pixel edge operator.The improvement of size measurement based on CCD has many advantages such as high measurement speed, high precision, non-contact measuring and so on. These advantages make the system suit for accurate measurement of industrial components especially, and provide the system a higher value and extensive application prospect. The measuring system that this dissertation designed measurerange is 200mm X 100mm, and measurement precision can reach 1μm.
