Bionic Research For Ecological Architecture

Architecture of the 21st century is facing the bottleneck of natural resources and the envioronment. It calls for safe, economic, beautiful and applicable, efficient and economical architecture in this era, which can fulfil the demand for sustainable development. Ecological architectural technique is now limited to monotonous ploys and invariable thoughts. Then how to set up new mode of thinking for ecological architectural technique and find its way out? Translating the way creatures symbiosing with the natural environment into architectural tactics, buildings can also have such dynamic adaptability. Once buildings adapt to the rules of nature, they will never destroy natural environment, and even can beautify and perfect it. So bionic naturally becomes a necessary study branch of biological architecture design, which provides a completely new visual angle for biological architecture. First, this article discusses the bionic inspirations on ecology through analyzing the biologic adaptabilities to the environment, and brings forward some bionic ways to ecological architecture. Second, the paper concludes some biological antetypes and the relevant bionic route, architectural measures and ecological effects. It also goes deep into the reseach method and process of bionics, which gives reasonable suggestions and methodlogical guidance to innovations of bionic tactics for ecological architecture. Third, combined with plenty of architectural instances, the article sums up a series of practical bionic tactics of ecological architecture, which provides new thoughts for ecological architecture design in rational technical pattern and also offers reference and guidance for the innovation of bionic tactics for ecological architecture. Finally, according to the conclusions above, the article brings forward a set of compositive and uncommon bionic design theory and tact of ecological architecture. And through a concept design, it also expatiates how to use the bionic tactics of ecological architecture with the theoretic system of design. This disquisition is one of my tutor's directions in the National-Physical Science-Funded reseach: The Ecological Tactics for Architecture Design in The Areas Where Hot in Summer and Cold in Winter. It is based on the content of "bionics"in tactics for biological architecture design and focuses on the latest pulse of biological architecture. The reseach is done by reading, interviewing and experimenting and its conclusion is expected to provide new ideas and illuminations to architects.
