With the development of power system in our country, the large-scale GTU(Generator Transformer Unit) of different types have been put into operation more and more. When the GTU breaks down, find out the reason, character and position of the trouble seem more and more important. So, it has very significant meaning to install special-purpose fault record device on GTU to analyze the reason, character and position of the trouble. First of all, an analysis and comparison to the fault record systems of many countries in the world have been offered in this thesis, and then distributive structure GTU fault record system have been proposed according to the technique target and design requirement of generator-transformer unit in power system. Demonstration of the project and process of its realization have been introduced briefly, too. After that, the deduction of start-up criterion arithmetic has been described importantly in this thesis. The positive and negative voltage (current) calculation formula of the system and the realization of work frequency criterion have been given, too. Then, the principle of the system design has been analyzed. The hardware realization of the system including DSP(Digital Signal Processing) module, AD module, PCI(Peripheral Component Interconnect) interface, Time Synchronzation module and CPLD(Complicated Programmable Logic Device) control module has been introduced in detail. The characters of their hardware realization and the aspects needing much attention have been proposed. Finally, the software realization of this system has been given in the thesis. The flow charts of the main procedure and the interrupt serve sub-procedures in the DSP module, and the flow charts of the main procedure of fault judge start-up and the interrupt serve sub-procedures of the host computer have been provided.
