A Study On Monitoring And Evaluating The Water Resources Of The Yellow River With Sustainable Development Oriented

As the demands on the yellow river's water increasing, Supply–Demandproblem of water resources of the Yellow River become outstanding increasingly anda shortage of water is more serious. The crises of water resources of the Yellow Riverare expressed not only by lack of the quantity of water, but also by the water qualitydeterioration and the function of water body being reduced or lost. The protection anddevelopment of water resources of the Yellow River faces a serious challenge.Sustainable development is to handle the relationship between short period objectivesand long period objectives, and the relationship between interest in the near future andin future. The criteria to evaluate the development have to be suitable for not only theregion, but also the whole;not only the present, but also the future;not only thequantity, but also the quality. With the crises which the water resources of the YellowRiver face and the higher requirements which sustainable development have, it isnecessary that we recognize the situation and trends again, and resolve the existedproblems with pertinence.The dissertation firstly analyzes the Yellow River water environment status andgeneral situation of the water resources, including general situation of physicalgeography, social economy, water resource status of the Yellow River basin, analysisof water resources quantity, exploitation and utilization of water resources,opportunity and challenge faced by protection and development of water resources ofthe Yellow River, and tasks protection of water resources of the Yellow River have inthe near future. Afterwards, the dissertation gives a thorough discussion about waterquality and venomous organic matter monitoring of the Yellow River basin. Thedissertation then gives a comprehensive evaluation to the Yellow River waterenvironment using fuzzy comprehensive evaluation method, and forecast the trends ofwater quality of the Yellow River basin according to the outputs from the evaluation.The evaluation displays that the water quality of the Yellow River has been pollutedseriously, and so must be controlled and improved with taking effective actions. Basedon the above, the dissertation discusses the problems to be resolved about thesustainable development of the water resources of the Yellow River. For the problemsof heavy dystrophication, water environment being ruined, lack of systems ofadministering water resources in a unified way and mechanisms of effectivesupervising, it is recommended that develop the policies of promoting the sustainableutilization of water resources from the aspects of laws and rules, systems, waterenvironment, and preventing and curing actions.
