Mold Element Method is a generalized characteristic Finite Element Method, it is sponsored by National Nature Science Foundation of China as innovational theoretical research on metal bulk forming. Dislike the geometrical meaning of Finite Element Method, some detailed geometrical meaning and physical meaning are applied in the Mold Element Division, so that each Mold Element has different mechanical characteristics. The results of Mold Element Method are either numerical or analytical-numerical combination, which have eminent physical meaning and the relations among the main parameters and the influence laws. The Mold Element Method in this paper is the applicable research in the metal bulk forming field.The major fundamental job is the construction and complement of model element library before Mold Element Method used. The basic principle and its application was made on the basis of existing Mold Element Method;Quantitative description to the deforming process outside the diffluent surface in parallel flat compression was done on the basis of slip line theory. The slip line based Mold Element with the Mold Element principle and method is the key research work. The quantitative description of a Model Element includes: the instant shape and dimension of Model Element in deforming process;the deformation field of the instant shape and dimension of Model Element in deforming process;the deformation field of the instant model element;the stress field of the instant model element;the corresponding relationship of instant deforming force distribution and geometry subject.A flat plat upsetting mold element was established, the slip line field under different friction force are drawn, then established the metal flow mold element beyond the neutral surface during the open die forging's cavity filling process, then drawn the slip line field under different friction angles. According to the slip line field the quantitative descriptions of the mold element of different forging stage are obtained by curve fitting in numerical analysis software Origin. The results include geometry, strain force field expression and deformation force distribution function along the horizontal axis. The strain field of the Mold Element is divided into severaldifferent strain fields by the different slip line field, each strain field has corresponding strain expression, the deformation force distribution function is the function of distance between neutral axis and the intersection point of free surface and the open die.In this paper, quantitative description to the deforming process outside the diffluent surface in parallel flat compression was done on the basis of slip line theory, detailed the characteristic element, characterized the non-characterized element, so the similar calculation method can directly apply this mechanical mold to simplify the calculation works.
