Power Quality Monitoring of power system is a new science realm, which hasdeveloped rapidly in recent years and has attracted more and more attention ofengineers of related department of power system, such as operation,management,research. Along with the science development, more and more new technology wouldbe applied to the Power Quality (PQ) Monitoring.The paper focuses on the solving the low monitoring level of monitoringsystem on line and the lag communication mode, proposes constructing newsoftware and hardware platform to realize more rapid and perfect monitoringfunction of PQ.By studying the development of Embedded System both at home andabroad, comparing the capability and kernel architecture of differentmicroprocessors, the paper proposes the system architecture of double CPU( ARM + DSP ) . By adopting the high capability microprocessors tocooperate each other, making full use of the control capability of ARM andthe processing capability of DSP, the architecture makes the work division inthe system more clear and the function more strong;by transplanting excellentReal Time Operating System-Vxworks, the equipments is provided with aneffective,perfect,stable,reliable software platform.The paper introduces in detail the hardware plan based on the architectureof principal and subordinate double CPU, and then builds perfect embeddedhardware platform, including flexible logic control,abundant storage system,various communication interface,convenient computer human interactionmode and enough upgrade space to solve all kinds of problem at present.Furthermore, the paper also introduces the Real Time Operating System-Vxworks and its development environment-Tornado, gives detailed stepsabout the operating system transplanting on the hardware platform in order tofinish the management and control of the Operating System to the bottomhardware.The research and development of software and hardware system based onthe embedded builds a good basis for the realization of perfect power qualitymonitoring on line function, and offer a powerful platform for the furtherresearch.
