Recently induction heating has been quite a convenient method for heating metals or conductive materials in industrial processes, such as melting, surface hardening, brazing, soldering, welding, tempering and annealing, forming and extrusion, etc.The history and the basic knowledge of induction heating technology is been introduced in this paper, and the development of power devices and the induction heating technology are introduced as well. Main different characteristics between both series and parallel inverters are compared. The operating principle of series resonant inverter is analyzed. IGBT driving and protective theory is analyzed in this paper , and IGBT driving and protective circuit suitable for parallel inverter is simulated and developed. The MATLAB 6.5 is used as simulation tool to establish the simulation model of the inverter and control system. The DSP-based PLL-controlled closed loop system is designed, and the system stability is analyzed by Jury's stability test, which may be beneficial to the researcher engaging in relevant inverters.
