With the development of national economy and international trade of our country, the transport ways with short period, high efficiency, rapid velocity and high reliability have more and more competitive ability. Because of high efficiency, rapid velocity and lack of cargo damage, container transports have been adopted widely in the world. And now almost all the freights are transported by containers in the docks of every country. Though the railway container transports of our country are developed more rapidly in recent years than before, we still have a long way to go compared with the developed countries. Types X6A and X6B container flat cars of our railways can meet the domestic transport requirement of five and ten tons' containers, but when they transport international standard containers, their utilization of axle load and per meter track load are quite low. Because of the vehicle upper gauge, to carry out double-deck container transport is difficult in our country. Thus it is very important to solve the contradiction between the fast developing container transport and the increasing of vehicle transport efficiency. The articulated container flat vehicle that is connected by the articulated connector and uses a common bogie between two car-bodies is the new type vehicle of transporting the containers. Because the vehicle can make full use of axle load, reduce the numbers of bogies, shorten the length of vehicle and increase the load per meter track when transporting international standard containers, it is paid high attentions by many countries, and developed very fast and widely used.Referring to the existing condition of the container transport in our railways and the experience overseas, the articulated container flat vehicle suitable for our current railways is suggested in this thesis. The dynamic model of the container car is set up, and the dynamic performace of the car is studied and the suspension parameters are optimized. The structure of the articulated connector is also designed, and the static strength is analyzed. The thesis includes five parts below:1. Through analyzing the existing condition of the container transport of home and abroad, it is known that the articulated container flat vehicle is feasible for our country. Based on the analysis, the conceptual design of the articulated container flat car is undertaken.2. The dynamic model of the articulated container flat vehicle isestablished by SIMPACK multi-body dynamics analysis software according to the result of conceptual design.3. The influence of the suspension parameters on the dynamic performance of the articulated container flat car is studied and the suspension parameters are optimized.4. The dynamic performance analysis of the articulated container flat vehicle consists of two cases, and one is the empty vehicle, the other is the fully load vehicle. According to the numerical results of the nolinear stability, ride comfort and curving behaviour, it can be concluded that the dynamic performance of the vehicle can meet the requirement of our railway criterion.5. The structure of the articulated connector is designed , and by using ANSYS finite element analysis software the static strength of the main parts are calculated. The result indicates that the structure of the connector can meet the requirement of our railway criterion.
