Water and steam, as work medium, congest all kinds of facilities and components in thermal power plant. However, the facilities of thermal power plant are usually placed a premium on accident because of bad water and steam qualities. Accidents in power plant make enormous economic loss and stupendous consumption of fuel. The monitoring and control system of water-steam chemical process in power plant is very important for the power units running in safety. With the development of power plant, more power units with higher parameters have been put into use. As a result, power plant depends much on the precise instruments and computer instead of manual work; furthermore the management-control integration of power plant demand that, beyond online monitoring, the system can issue real-time data to the MIS network dynamically for data sharing. To meet these requirements, a new web-based monitoring system of water-steam chemical process in power plant was designed. iFIX3.0, VB6.0 and Windows2000 make up of the main design platform. Except of the basic function such as data display, over alert, data management and dynamic report, the new system also realized publishing data dynamically on Intranet by connecting the industrial control computer with local area network of the power plant. The related technicians can then get useful information from the web to facilitate making strategic decisions. In addition of application of configuration of iFIX3.0 system, the VBA program technique was used to extend its function on the platform of Microsoft Access and Excel. The data was inserted into a relational database from the process database. By using the database techniques, the daily and monthly reports were generated. The voice alarm function was also realized. All these functions greatly made up incompletion of iFIX.
