Based on the performances of microwave radiation, a new method to detect thecontaminants on the power equipment is presented in the paper. The experimental modelis constructed;the theoretic model of brightness temperature in the sunshine is given;thecentral research is the complex dielectric constant of contaminants;the theoreticalcalculation for the contaminants of brightness temperature is completed. The relationbetween the radiant characteristic and NSDD (No Soluble Deposit Density), ESDD(Equivalent Salt Deposit Density), relative humidity, conductance ratio of salt fog etc isaccomplished. The relation between the brightness temperature and the level of pollutionis constructed though establishing the corresponding relation between antennatemperature and ESDD. This method can avoid electromagnetic interference in passivedetection techniques of the microwave radiometer. The principle of the properties ofradiation is introduced. The detailed processes of the method and results are given to betrue and effective through results.
