According to the theory of microwave radiation, this paper proposes a new method to detect the pollution on insulators by microwave radiometer based on the pollution's radiation characteristic. According to the experiment results this paper summarizes the feasibility of this method, the establishment of the three-layer media model and the study of dielectric constant. Based on the three-layer media model we establish the solid model, and analyze some factors when detecting the pollution on insulators by microwave radiometer and gave the corresponding solution, finally we analyze the new model by contrast with the three-layer media model. This paper expounds the principle of the design of microwave radiometer and the selection of parameters, and proves the practical meaning of the microwave radiometer. The material experimentation and the analysis of results are introduced, and the detailed processes prove the method is true and effective.
