The Study On The Enshi Airport Terminal Design

With the great development of civil aviation in China, the airport net must beconstructed quickly and largely. The lateral airports, an important segment ofentire net, have been posed more and more attentions on. During the nextstage, a focus will lie on the lateral airports construction, especially in theWestern China. The lateral airport terminal,a main construction in airport,not only should fulfill acquirements of passengers , but also show the featureof cities and regions. How to combine regional culture with the modernfunction of lateral airport now becomes an urgent problem facing architects.The paper lies on the modern lateral airport terminal combined with thetraditional and regional architecture, representing the local culture in someextent. The content include the way in studying and abstracting regionalculture, the correct attitude on tradition, region, and modernization and,analyzed the construction, material and space of traditional architecture. Inaddition, the paper put forward the view: The modernization of traditionalarchitecture neither is the patchwork of sign and material, nor is the misusingof modern technique. We should not be restricted in some changeless patterns,creating but imitating the new designs based on the region.The paper is mainly composed two parts, first one lies on thecharacteristic presentation of lateral airport and terminal, and some exampleof them. The second one shows the way in designing regional lateral airportterminal according to the example——Enshi Airport Terminal.
