The auto-centralized grease lubrication system for vehicle chassis can effectively prolong the life-cycle of chassis, reduce its maintenance cost, and improve the vehicle's performance level, consequently, a series of problems with handwork periodic grease lubrication could be solved. So, the economy value of the auto-centralized grease lubrication system is quite huge and its applicable foreground is quite bright. Based on the project Research and development of the auto-centralized grease lubrication equipment for vehicle chassis, financial support from Science and Technology Department of Zhejiang Province, the detection and control of operation performances parameters using the virtual instrument technique for the auto-centralized grease lubrication system had been investigated in this paper as the main research subjects. The objectives of this research were to realize the fast online detection and optimizing performances parameters for all components during the product process, and to provide the principles for the fault detection of the centralized grease lubrication system and to improve the theory of optimizing design and manufacture of resemble products. The main research contents and conclusions are as flowing(1) The main line pressure characteristic curves of grease lubrication system contain useful information when they are in normal operation condition. The actual operation curves of the system were obtained on acquiring the dynamic pressure waves in main lines and the dynamic detection and control of all kinds of characteristic parameters could be realized.(2) Using the design thoughts of virtual instrument systems, the virtual instrument survey system of grease lubrication equipment is exploited by means of the M-series Data Acquisition Cards of NI Corp. in America and the Graphics Language- LabVIEW. This system could acquire two ways of pressure signals and three ways of temperature signals, and display the real-time wave, and also, could analyze, save and transfer these signals.(3) Pressure characteristic curves with different conditions of the grease temperature, the numbers of lubricating point and the length of main pipe can be acquired using the new exploiting survey system. A whole operation cycle of lubrication system are divided into seven periods as follows: pressure increasing, grease storage of re-greasing distributor, continuing pressure increasing, pressure decreasing, grease supply of re-greasing distributor, continuing pressure decreasing, intermittence. Characteristic parameters including pressure peak, residual pressure error, action cycle, operating time of geared pump, pressure-increasing time, pressure- decreasing time, etc., which show the operation performances of lubrication system, are acquired from pressure characteristic curves of main line. The operationperformances of lubrication system with different conditions of the grease temperature, the numbers of lubricating point and the length of main pipe are also studied. Ternary quadratic polynomial model with the 14 characteristic parameters is established. Result of error analysis proves the model is reasonable, and can be used.(4) The pressure signals in fore-and back-end of the main line under all kinds of fault conditions were acquired. The change characteristic of pressure wave and main parameters was analyzed. A new method to realize fault detection through acquiring the pressure wave of lubrication system was presented, and the principles for fault diagnoses of lubrication system based on virtual instrument were provided.(5) The displacement uniformity of re-greasing distributors was researched experimentally, the results showed that the designed displacement of re-greasing distributor is smaller, the actual displacement precision is lower and uniformity is worse;the parameters such as fixing position, the numbers of lubricating point and the length of the pipe, etc. have little affection on displacement uniformity, that proves the design of re-greasing distributor is reasonable.
