Traffic information has much relation with geography information. It has great practical significance to research Geographical Information System for traffic, which makes use of the high-efficiently data-disposing methods of GIS and applies it to the traffic system. In the case of urban road traffic, the property of intersection is very complex. The intersection has become the bottleneck of the road network. The Traffic intersection simulation system (TiSS), which provides the effective testing platform for the researches and constructions of urban transportation, are of broad practical prospect by overcoming the drawbacks of fieldtrial systems such as huge consumption and implementation difficulties.The thesis, which is mostly based on ITS and GIS-T, focuses on the research and development of TiSS and scenario modeling. The main contents and contributions can be summed up as follows.1. Summing up three methods for developing the application GIS and the research work of COM technology based on Arcobjects. Bring forward some key methods to make use of Arcobjects in the traffic area.2. Researching on the model of traffic simulation scenario. Establishing a new model based on GIS. Detailed analyzing and designing it. Presenting an example to prove the effectiveness of this model, by the background, the structure and the interface of this example.3. Researching on the organization and storage of the simulation scenario data, analyzing the theory and framework of the geodatabase model, spatial database engine (SDE) and spatial index. Detailed explaining the design method of the simulation scenario database and applying it to build a example database.4. Presenting the significance, structure, function and implementation of Traffic Intersection Simulation System (TiSS), which was developed by the author's team. Combined the work forenamed, introducing the design and development of the data structure and database of the system.In the end, the thesis concludes with a summary and perspectives of the future research of the field.
