| With the economic development of cities and acceleration of urbanization, urban traffic is becoming a big problem. There are two main causes to this issue, the first one is the deficiency of city lay-out and road capacity, that is the shortage of traffic supply; the other one is the increase of traffic demand with city economic development. A research of the Bank of World shows that the speed of traffic demand is twice as much as the speed of economic increase. So the status quo of traffic is presenting the conflict between daily increase of the requirement of citizens' trip and the limit of a city's road resource. It is demanded to utilize efficient traffic tool which takes less space for per person trip in order to relieve the traffic crowding to protect the environment and to save energy. Buses can be one available way to deal with this problem due to their advantage. In this thesis, the conception and main contents of the public transport priority system was put up on the systematic view after analyzing three factors composing normal public transport such as passenger—traffic participator, vehicle—traffic carrier and road—traffic facility. The passenger influence to the traffic is analyzed by using the mode of dissipative structure theory at the situation of public transport priority. The vehicle influence to traffic crowing, cost, environment and resource is analyzed and the model of utility-function is put forward. As to the road, basing on the present theory of bus lane, bus-only approach, several items are discussed such as design method, conditions and rules for bus lanes as well as the bus-only signal control, queue of public transport priority and so on at the inter-section. Meanwhile, the design methods, the rules and standard of bus stop are summarized and the systematic theory of normal public transport priority system is lay out.Based on the theory above, the public transit system of Huhot Inner Mongolia is studied as an example of the design of public transport priority system. |
