Water resources is not uniform in time and space, many large water transfer projects have been constructed in our country to satisfy the demand of industrial and agricultural producing and people living. Pump station is the heart of the project. Installed capacitor is 392.59 MW of the first-stage projects of Eastern Route of South-to-North Water Transfer. Annual operation time is 5000~6000 hours, and annual operation cost is 0.98~1.18 billion yuan. Because of long operation time and large installed power, optimal and high efficiency operation is significant to lowering cost of diverting water and realizing the project benign circulating.Source pump stations are made up of Jiangdu pump stations and Baoying pump station. Influenced by tidal level of Yangtze River, the head is varied frequently within wide range. Optimal operation pump stations and pump units, pump unit operation duties and time should be selected according to water level variety, time-varying electrical price and characteristics of pump units to attain the target of saving operation cost. Main works in the dissertation are as follows:Economical operation methods of adjusting pump unit operation duties were researched, such as adjusting blade angle, adjusting rotational speed, adjusting rotational speed and blade angle. Jiangdu pump station economical operation schemes were solved based on pump assembly performance. The results indicate that the most increment of pump assembly efficiency is 9.85% by adjusting blade angle. Pump assembly efficiency could increase by 3.29%~12.75% by adjusting rotational speed, daily saving cost is near 40000 yuan. By adjusting rotational speed and blade angle, assembly efficiency is 0.05%~28.71% higher than by sole adjusting blade angle and 0.01%~7.55% higher than by sole adjusting rotational speed, efficiency increment is obvious.Under the circumstances of certain pump station discharge, aiming at the least electrical cost of main pump units, Jiangdu pump station optimal operation schemes by adjusting blade angle and under design blade angle were solved with annealing genetic algorithm. The results indicate that pump station optimal operation cost by adjusting blade angle is about 7.5% lower than under design blade angle.
