Space experimentation is a massive and comprehensive scientific experimentation with character of high-investment and high-risk. System simulation theory and method, results play an important supporting role in the entire space experimentation. Visual simulation is an important part of Space simulation, which can present the motion of the space targets and working condition of ground facilities intuitionisticly, and can make it easier for us to find out the problems in the space experimentation and analyze them. According to various demand of space experimentation visualization, this paper designs and implement a Visualization Support Platform for Space Experimentation based on OpenGL.This dissertation consists of five chapters. The first chapter introduces the concept of visual simulation and its development in the world and its application in space technology. The second chapter analyzes the demand of visualization for space experiment and simulation, and the developing platform and main frame of the Visualization Support Platform system are discussed. In the third chapter, the design and implement of the important base of the Visualization Support Platform—scene graph is presented, and two problems including transition of different scales and shaking of space objects are discussed and also the solutions are presented. In the following chapter, the software realization of this Visualization Support Platform, such as its structure and the design of its modules are discussed in detail. In the last chapter, a summary and some expectations for the research work are listed.The Visualization Support Platform for Space experiment and simulation has been applied to one space experiment and its demonstration, and some relative space projects simulation, which shows its important practical significance for Space experiment and simulation.
