On the basis of collecting the domestic and international data about cast-iron bronze-inlaid gates, the study has been launched from the aspects of the design, manufacturing and control automatically. The gate has widely been used in the area of oxidized ditch technology. The study focuses on structure optimization, how to lessen the cost of the gates and enhance its reliability and so on.As the normal screw thread is adopted drive the traditional headstock gear. The gate fails to close automatically under the abnormal conditions such as power cut and so on. So that leads to the death of personnel and economic losses easily. In this paper, a new guard headstock gear product has been developed independently. The drive of guard headstock gear has been changed from the ball screw to the common screw in the country for the first time. Speed limiter and hand brake actuator are applied for this guard headstock gear. It is indicated that the guard headstock gear can close automatically, rapidly and Safety and reliability have been tested through experimental manufacture.Conventionally, the gate is designed in terms of the designer's experience and analogy method. With software of ANSYS, the three-dimensional finite element model of the gate body is established to calculate its deformation and stress. By calculation, the distributing law of deformation and stress under static water pressure is obtained. Then the structure of the gate's body is optimal designed. The results show that three-dimensional finite element method can reduce the gate weight remarkably.At present, those gates have not been standardized and serialized. This leads to be very inconvenient in maintaining, inefficient manufacturing and high cost. The key part is standardized and serialized in the paper. We developed a series of process fixture such as the fixture of plane process, the fixture of common screw and so on. These fixtures can enhance manufacturing efficiency, precision and interchange-ability of maintenance parts greatly. At the same time, a key technique of embedded welding is presented to apply for this gate. Thus the utilized cost of the valuable copper is decreased greatly.The traditional headstock gear' control method is dropped behind the times. We have developed an automatic supervised control system based on programmable logic controller. Automatic detection of the gate' situation and the water line are implemented. Further more, the flux across the gate can be recorded in real time and the system has the function of automatic alarm. The system can control two alternant working gate automatically.The creative points in this paper have been published in the core publication of 'Optical Technique' and proceedings of International Conference.
