This thesis was finished basing on the practice from our factory. A certain newdesigned bus in our factory occurred body frame strength early failure only aftermore than 100,000 km driving. The thesis analyzed the body frame strength of thebus, and found the failure reason. It includes several aspects as follows: 1. The thesis mainly introduced the development and application of FEM(Finite Element Method), and expatiated how to use FEM technology to do thebus body frame structure analysis. Ground on this, several existent methods atpresent about bus frame modeling by using FEM were researched. Thecharacteristic of different modeling methods was also analyzed as well as theadvantage and the disadvantage of them. Beside, It discussed the question abouthow to correctly use modeling methods in practice. 2. Set up body frame finite element model by using shell unit. Analyzed the busbody frame strength in the condition of bend and torsion in static state. The biggerand smaller strength parts were calculated. Then the reason of frame early failurewas found. Compared the calculated result with practical bus body frame breakcondition. Summarized it and analyzed it. 3. According to the concrete failure reason, the thesis researched how toimprove the bus body frame structure. On the basis of bus body whole framestrength analysis, improved the body frame in the factor of inclined support placeform and partial connect detail. At last, a rational fine solving method was putforward. It provided reference and help for bus maintaining and new bus bodyframe designing.
