Because of the specialty on the building conformation, usage function and so on, the building energy of the public building is quite different from the residential building. Therefore, the energy efficiency of the public buildings becomes a new task. As the representative city of the hot summer and warm winter area, Guangzhou has not been reseached on pubic building energy. In this paper, the energy of a store, an office building and a hospital are surveyed.Their structure of envelope, usage of air conditioning system, annual energy consumption are collected and analyzed, moreover, an energy simulation software DeST-c is used to simulate the store and office dynamically.Based on the results of investigation and analysis, the average air conditioning temperatures of public buildings are 24~26℃, and the average air conditioning relative humidities of public buildings are 50%~75%. The temperature and relative humidity of the store are lower than those of the office and hospital. The public buildings are using central air conditioning, and the designed refrigeration capacity per unit building area is from 107 W/m~2 to 188 W/m~2. The refrigeration capacity depends on load rate by human control. The refrigeration capacity in the store is affected by electricity restriction, the refrigeration capacity in the office depends on whether it is working day, and the refrigeration capacity in the hospital is affected by outdoor temperature. The power variety trend of the chiller and air conditioning system are the same as that of the refrigeration capacity. The chiller power is 44%~73% in the air conditioning system power. The bigger load rate is, the bigger the chillers' COPs and air conditioning system EERs are. The chiller COPs of the investigated buildings are 2.60~5.56, and the air conditioning system EERs are 1.54~2.85.These of the hospital is smaller than those of the store and the office.The mean annual electricity consumption per unit building area of the investigated buildings is 239 kWh/(m~2·a) , which is bigger than that in other cities in our country. The electricity consumption of illumination system is 40% in the whole electricity consumption; and the electricity consumption of air conditioning system is 27%~40% in the whole electricity consumption. The building consumption per unit building area in the store is bigger than that in the office.
