Based on landscape ecology ,culture ecology and delight-oriented design ideas, this paper focus on the research of landscape space character. It selects the modern classic resdience sections in the city of Hangzhou and the conventional residence sections in the city of Hangzhou and the county of Sanmen as the research objects. First, this article starts with comprehensive analysis on problems existing on construsting of residential environment in China, as well as investigations and studies on the overall conditons of mental diseases and the criminal records in Hangzhou, then processes correlation analysis among mental diseases, criminal ratioand per capita living area. Second this article takes Hangzhou-a history city andSanmen-a representative town as the study objects. Using fractal geometry andentropy calculation, the article assesses the above-mentioned reserch districts, and tries to find out the internal cause of why high feeling of security and domain exists in traditional residential area, then conculd the scales of quantitive indexes of conventional residence sections which can be used for instructing estate constructions.Third ,compared with spacial structures of the modern residence sections and characters of landscape in Hangzhou,the article probes into the defensible space theroy.At last, this article penetrates into the study of new delight-oriented design theory, draws on foreign delight-oriented design method and the improvements of traditional residential environment, provides reference for delight-oriented design and improvement for residential environment.
