Study On The Material And The Performance Of Dense-graded Asphalt Treated Base

Dense-graded asphalt treated base(ATB) belongs to the category of flexible base. It can control and reduce reflecting crack effectively of surface pave compare with semi-rigid base. The study and use on ATB has just started in our country, but it will be widely use in the future.Gradation design and determination of optimal asphalt content are the most important tasks in asphalt treated base component design. The paper used the N-method, the I-method, the Bailey-method and the superpave system designed asphalt treated base mixture separately, determine the optimal asphalt content with the Marshall test method, mechanics index method and superpave system separately, compare and appraise these method. Through parallel tests, the paper study and compared the performances of ATB mixture, which include mechanical properties, high-temperature stability, low-temperature anti-cracking performance and fatigue resistance. A test road has used the method which the paper designed. The paper study the construction characters, recommended the construction methods fit for asphalt treated base.
