This paper researchs and designs an intelligent Flow Totalizer and a Meter Reading System. The meter reading software in PC telecommunicates with forane Flow Totalizer by serial communication using Modem or communicates directly with local Flow Totalizer by serial ports. The flow meter reading software supervises and manages the whole system. The Flow Totalizer based on MSP430F149 new microprocessor detects and controls a flow node, accomplishing the flow data measurement &conversion, saving data to show historical or real-time data. And a real-time clocker, data save, printer, V/I conversion/analog signals output, keyboard, LCD and serial communication are analyzed and designed.In chapter 1, summarize the working principle of electromagnetic flowmeter, its application status and development trend, analyze the advantage&disadvantage of electromagnetic flowmeter. At last, the reaserch&design field and the total arrange of this paper is preset.In chapter 2, according to the application and consumer's demand, summarize system design tasks and rules, show the total development architecture of this system, and analyze the all modules' function and their own role.In chapter 3, accomplish the hardware design of the flow totalizer, introduce the main MCU and some of the important eripheral hardware circuits. At last, analyze hardware anti-interference technology.In chapter 4, accomplish the software design of the flow totalizer, introduce the programme language, the soft architecture and their roles of function modules. At last, analyze software anti-interference technology.In chapter 5, design the hardware and software of flow meter in forane PC, the operation interface and operation guide is given.In chapter 6, system integration and test.In chapter 7, the main conclusions of this dissertation are summarized and the future research work is put forward.
