Nowadays with the development of Object-oriented Programming technology, especially with the development of Computer Aided Test technology, more and more measure functions that used to be acquired by hardware can be realized through software. So the intimate combination between computer science and measurement technology brings a new type of instrument, which is virtual instrument.The emergence of virtual instrument makes the measurement system become more flexible and more integrated that will help users to construct complicated measurement system. With its flexibility, it's also possible for the measurement system to upgrade without needing the hardware to modify a lot. It's of low cost as well compared with conventional instrument.In this research, a virtual instrument system is developed based on Visual Basic 6.0 software platform. It includes pressure-signal-collecting module, temperature-signal-collecting module, flux-signal-collecting module, rotational speed-signal-collecting module, vibration-signal-collecting module, data-processing module and computer analytical and saving module. Embodying the advantage of virtual instrument, the system solves the problem of interface for hardware and software. It also has a friendly interface that is convenient to use. The system shows a character of stability and precision in experiments with the application of Multi-Media Timer, and shows the merits of VI.The system is applied to the test of YZ18JA vibrate roller in CHANGLIN Corp. and achieve the goal with stability, precision, high efficiency. In the future, the CATS will be widely used in many domains and a more normal platform for other CATS must be constructed.
