Bus stop is one important component of the public transportation. The optimization design of the bus stop produces an effect not only on the efficiency of the public transportation, but also on the quantity of the city environment.This dissertation researches the optimization design of bus stop from microcosmic view, and it mainly involves the placement,types,number of berths and capacity of bus stops.On aspect of bus stop's effect on road traffic flow, four kinds of bus stops along side divider on three-breadth and four- breadth road are taken as research emphases. Through analyzing and comparing advantages and disadvantages between far-side,near-side,and mid-block bus stops,the dissertation gives some principles of locating bus stops. According to investigation data, some primary factors are chosen to construct the velocity models of different kinds of bus stops on traffic flow. The parameters of the models are obtained by using investigation data to regress.Based on the further study on bus stop capacity,queue theory,and probability of vehicle arrival,the dissertation develops methods used to optimizing the berth of bus stops,and gives the corresponding scope table of the bus stop capacity and the number of berths.By using the traffic-flow velocity models,the dissertation discusses the length and width design of bus stop zone,and gives the design dimension especially for bus bay. It proposes width design steps of bus stop zone by researching the service level of passenger waiting area. Finally,based on the investigation data,the dissertation gives a optimization design instances of bus stop.
