The bus-stop is an important component of bus transit. The optimal design of the bus-stops does not only affect the public traffic qualities and efficiency but impact on the qualities of residents and road traffic running quality and urban development. In large cities multiple-route bus-stops are prevalent in the bus system. The multiple-route bus-stops are only some small nodes in bus system; however they are indispensable for the whole bus service system. As the objects of study, the regular bus-stops are analyzed in this article in the aspects of location and the number. The bus-stops of different locations are discussed and compared in this article, and upstream-intersection and downstream-intersection are analyzed by the method of combining theory with the investigated data to obtain the best location. In considering the effect of the intersection, a set of methods to minimize the time cost by the passengers and the total society are given to calculate the optimal distance of the bus-stops, with the recommended values of different bus-lines achieved at last.Two methods are adopted in this article to calculate the number of the berths. One method is using the relationship of the berths and the capacity of the bus-stops to calculate the number of the berths. The other method is using the queuing theory to calculate the number of the berths to meet the peak demand as the buses' arrival distribution is Poisson arrival. The number of the route-lines of the multiple bus-stops must be limited, so the basic character indexes about the capacity of the bus-stops on the limitation of the route lines are analyzed by the queuing theory with some suggestions of improvement mainly on the vice-stations. The detail founding ways of which are analyzed with the combination of the station and the vice-station given.By actual surveys and data collection, the problems of the bus-stops in Chengdu are discussed and the bus-stops of a section of the second ring road are analyzed. The berths of some typical bus-stops are discussed in the ways of the capacity of bus-stops and the queuing theory, and some of which are supposed to be optimized. The problems about construction of bus-stops in Chengdu are analyzed, with some improved measures offered which have some significance.
