| As the problem of traffic congestion in big cities is more and more serious, the bus priority has been a basic policy for public transport. In the big cities multiple routes bus stops are prevalent in the bus system, which are basic ligaments between passengers and the bus service system. The multiple routes bus stops are only some nodes in the bus system; however they are indispensable for the whole bus service system. The study on multiple routes bus stop is supported by the bus research of our task team. The study on multiple routes bus stop includes macroscopic aspect and microscopic aspect.(1) Three representative stops are chosen to contrast with each other about traffic condition and their physical status. Some conclusions are found by using the SPSS software to analyze the data. The arrival distributing rule of the multiple routes stop's buses is Poisson arrival. The bus dwell time would be affected obviously by three factors which are bus queue time, transfer passengers and the number of arrival buses. It will increase with the three factors' increasing but not the traffic flux of the road that has not much relationship with the bus dwell time.(2) It suggests that bus bay is adapted to multiple routes stop by contrasting the sidewalk bus stop and the bus bay stop, which can meet the berthing need, weaken the influence on traffic flow and increase passengers' safety. The bay bus stop can be located at different palaces on the road such as the sidewalk and the strip between motor vehicles and bicycles basis on different traffic condition.(3) The conclusion about the location choosing is that multiple routes stop is better to located at the intersection, and the far-side bus stop is better than near-side. It can enhance the vehicle efficiency, passengers' safety and convenience which are all better than setting it on the section of a road.(4) The number of berths has relationship with the stop capacity, so the stop capacity can be used to calculate the number of berths. The buses' arrival distribution is Poisson arrival, so it can be used to calculate the number of berths too. This way is according to the service mode of the bus stop, so it can meet the berthing need better.(5) There is a way to calculate the size of the platform by using the berth number and the service level of the stop. It can be used to calculate the size of a new bus stop, and it can also to validate a stop in existence. |
