An Application Study Of IE In Plate Manufacturing

The plate is an important component in the road-header. It has complicated structure and is required for high quality. Based on the analysis of the on-line producing problems, the paper presents methods to solve these problems using process improvement methodology of industrial engineering. Firstly, 5S(Seiri, Seiton, Seiso, Setketsu and Shitsuke) is put into practice for improving shop floor management. Secondly, process improvement method if found by with collecting and analyzing the data and drawing the process flow chart. Production cycle is cut down. The number of workers and production space required are reduced. Thirdly, man-machine operation is analyzed by drawing the graph of the man-machine operating chart, the machine utilization is increased, idle time is reduced and the assignment of man-machine operating becomes more reasonable. Next working standard is established. As a directive document it makes operation and quality standard more clear. The method is spread in the range of factory. The scheme is put into effect successfully under the supporting producing department. The production cycle time is cut down and number of workers is reduced and the production is balanced. The cost of production in the enterprise is reduced.
