This thesis focuses on metal pushing V-belt type continuously variable transmission (CVT). Main job is to make dynamic simulation of CVT system. A dynamic model of CVT is set and the force analysis work is done theoretically. Then a model is set up in ADAMS simulation is performed. The simulation result can be used not only to support the CVT optimization of design but also to find the best clamp force acting on the pulley wheel.The transmission efficiency is one of the most important characteristics of CVT systems. Different types of power loss of CVT system is obtained based on the dynamic analysis. Then the transmission efficiency under different speed ratio of CVT can be calculated. Such kind of analyzing makes it possible to find the key factors which have great affect on the efficiency of CVT system. Through the study of these factors, several approaches for CVT transmission efficiency optimization are proposed.
